Sleep plays an extremely important role in our lives. Thanks to it the body works properly – sleep has a huge impact on memory and effective brain work, supports processes of the hormonal and immune system, which protects us against viral diseases. It is important to sleep from 6 to 9 hours a day. But in addition to the quantity, it is also worth taking care of the quality of sleep. How to do it?
In order to fall asleep easily and sleep peacefully the whole night, it is worth taking care of proper soundproofing before going to bed. Give up the television, phone or any electronic devices for about 2 hours before going to bed. Instead, read a book or meditate. Remember also that meditation is not necessarily sitting in one place in the lotus position and repeating Buddhist mantras in your head. A form of meditation can also be putting together a puzzle, writing a journal, sensoplastics, or even dancing to your favorite music. The most important thing is that this activity gives you pleasure and, above all, that it turns your mind off for a while and calms it down after the whole day. You will certainly notice that you sleep much better if you cut yourself off from the hustle and bustle of the outside world for a few hours
Comfortable sleeping conditions
It’s also a good idea to make sure your bedroom is comfortable. The saying “the way you sleep is the way you sleep” can have a very literal meaning. Try to make your bed as comfortable as possible and adapt it to your needs, and you will be sure that the quality of your sleep will be much better. Opt for soft bed linen in your favourite patterns and colors, choose beautiful pillowcases, comforters and sheets with elastics. But the most important part is choosing the right mattress. A great option is a thermoelastic mattress, which conforms to the shape of your body and can modify pain and thus improve sleep comfort.
The right position
What position you fall asleep in can affect the mood you wake up in. That’s why it’s a good idea to make healthy habits about the right position you sleep in. One recommended sleeping position is on your left side. Why on the left side? This supports the work of internal organs, especially the heart, large intestine, stomach and lymph. Sleeping on your side is also recommended for people who have problems with snoring. Another recommended position is to sleep on your back with your arms stretched out along your torso. It relaxes the muscles and does not restrain the limbs, joints and internal organs.
Drinks before bedtime
If you want to sleep well and comfortably, you can also prepare drinks before bed to make it easier to fall asleep and improve the quality of sleep. Herbs such as lemon balm, chamomile, linden, valerian or hop cone will work well in this role. Moon milk, known from Ayurvedic medicine, is also a great solution. How to prepare it? First, boil the milk. Then add cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger and pepper to the drink. You can also add lavender, which will also provide a beautiful color. Add one teaspoon of unrefined coconut oil or clarified butter and cook for a while to release the substances contained in the herbs. Finally, cool the drink a bit and add a teaspoon of honey. You can be sure that after drinking such milk you will sleep peacefully.
