Nettle for hair – how to make a rinse and what gives?
It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

Nettle is not usually associated with positive associations. Considered a weed, which in contact with the skin burns, is often underestimated. Interestingly, its health and cosmetic properties make it one of the best and, of course, 100% natural ways to improve the condition of hair, skin and nails

Drinking nettle infusion has a positive effect on the functioning of the entire body. It can also be applied directly to the hair as a rinse. How to prepare and apply it?

Curative properties of nettle

Nettle is rich in many vitamins, such as A, C, B, E and K. It also contains minerals, such as silicon, iron, phosphorus, selenium, calcium and beta-carotene. It is also a source of glycolic acid, glycerol and riboflavin. All these ingredients improve the condition of the hair and the whole body. Apart from its obvious care properties, nettle is a plant with enormous health-promoting potential. It supports the fight against anemia, hypertension and inflammation, as well as improves the functioning of the immune system

Hair rinse

Nettle rinse is a reliable way to improve the condition of hair, already used by our grandmothers. Due to easy access to wild nettles, this infusion has gained great popularity. To prepare it we need only a few nettle twigs, about 5 or 6 pieces, and boiling water. It is best if the plants have not been sprayed with herbicides and have not grown directly next to a busy road. If you do not have access to fresh nettles, you can use dried tea, which you can buy in a pharmacy. Pour boiling water over the leaves and stems, cover and leave to infuse for about 15-20 minutes. After that time, strain the liquid and wait until it cools down. Then wash your hair as usual and finally rinse it with nettle infusion. Finally, wrap your hair in a towel for about 10 minutes. Do not rinse. Afterwards, comb and style your hair as usual. If you are bothered by the specific smell, you may add a few drops of argan or jojoba oil to the brew. Repeat the treatment regularly. Regularity is the key to beautiful and healthy hair

Benefits of Nettle Rinse

Nettle has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties. It helps fight dandruff and has a positive effect on hair growth. Nettle has a soothing effect on the scalp and normalises sebum secretion which makes hair less oily It regenerates hair and fights split ends. It provides protection from external factors like frost, sun and wind. The conditioner makes hair healthy, light, strong and shiny. Blondes must be careful, however, as the chlorophyll in the rinse can make hair a little darker with prolonged use
