The problem of reverberation usually occurs in large and tall apartments. Fortunately, there are effective ways to get rid of it.

A house should provide a pleasant atmosphere for all inhabitants to relax and unwind. This friendly atmosphere consists of many different factors, of course, and one of them is an appropriate acoustic climate. Good acoustics is related to protection of rooms in the apartment against sounds generated from the outside and against those generated inside, i.e. reverberation (echo). How to deal with the latter?

Furniture and fabrics to dampen sounds

Echoes are often heard in an empty room. When an apartment is arranged and occupied, the problem usually disappears or becomes smaller. Appropriate arrangement of furniture and also the use of fabrics can effectively suppress certain sounds. Just hanging curtains or placing a carpet can help to get rid of the problem. It is worth remembering that the thicker the fabric, the better the echo reduction in the room, although even just curtains can already be very helpful in this regard

Application of acoustic plasters

It is well known that placing appropriate furniture against the wall or hanging large paintings effectively reduces echo in the house. However, what to do in case you don’t want too much furniture in the room? There is a simple and effective solution for this – acoustic plasters. These materials give great results and can be applied directly to the wall. They improve acoustic conditions in the room, however, you should remember that due to their rough surface it is better not to level them with a plasterboard, because you can lose the expected effect

Acoustic panels – reverberation reduction and great decoration

Acousticpanels are effective in reducing echoes and they look great on the wall. They are usually made of melamine or polyurethane foam. They are available in different colors and shapes – even three-dimensional ones are available on the market. Especially attractive are acoustic panels in the shape of hexagons – they will be suitable for interiors decorated in many styles, especially modern ones. Acoustic panels can be used practically in every room.

Application of acoustic wallpapers

They can be plain, but they don’t have to be. They are available in many patterns and can often be painted with latex-free paints. With patterned acoustic wallpaper, you can reduce sound by 25%. Those that are smooth are slightly thicker (reaching about 10 mm), but this also means that they absorb up to 55% of the sound. They will work well both on the wall and on the ceiling, but do not forget to paint them only with paints that the manufacturer recommends. Otherwise, they may not fulfill their role.

Wall graphics with acoustic backing

Wall graphics look a bit like wallpapers and photo wallpapers. Although they do not seem to have an acoustic function at all, you can actually use them to reduce reverberation in your interior. How to do it? Just use an acoustic underlay properly selected by the manufacturer of a given product. This solution will reduce noise by up to 19 dB. Wall graphics with acoustic backing is a simple solution that can really look great!

Acoustic panels placed on the ceiling

An acoustic board ceiling is a great alternative to plasterboard. They feature sound absorption of up to 50%, and the more perforations on them, the better their performance. Perforations are available in different patterns – round and square. Note that the former are better for living spaces. You can also opt for smooth acoustic boards (if the living areas are of great height) – their sound absorption is over 50%.
