Fencing the plot affects the protection of the property, but also has an aesthetic value. It is worth choosing a solution that will be durable, affordable and matched to the body of the building, type of elevation and surroundings.

It is good to invest in a fence, which will not require complex maintenance and which – due to its durability – will be usable for a long time. Before deciding to buy a fence you should check if there are any guidelines in the local zoning plan concerning its shape, height and type of material. It is also worth to match the fencing style to the character of the building and surrounding garden. In order to achieve a coherent effect the type of entrance gate and wicket should be taken into consideration.

Metal fences

Fencing should always be adjusted to individual needs. Fences made of steel spans are functional – they don’t obscure the view, allow plants access to light, and at the same time the whole construction looks light, which can’t be said about heavy, brick buildings. At the same time, metal spans do not provide a tight barrier against noise and dust from the street, which can be important depending on the location of the house

What fencing materials are worth choosing? Steel threaded rods and drawn rods are characterized by high resistance to negative external factors. They are used for embedding in the ground posts and fence. Smooth drawn bars, in turn, are commonly used to create steel structures – you can make from them, among other things, fence gates. Wooden fences

Wooden fences look best around country houses, because they look aesthetically, create atmosphere of idyll and can be easily combined with other materials, such as stone or brick. The wood is very malleable, so it is possible to shape the lines of the fence or the type of clearance in different ways. Keep in mind that the maximum height of the fence allowed by Polish law is 2.2 m, counting from the ground level

If you plan a higher fence, you should apply for a permit. The optimum height of the fence is usually between 1.2 and 1.8 m. Disadvantages of wood fences include the need to maintain and renew them every few years. Many species of wood require regular maintenance due to poor resistance to weathering.

Brick fences

When choosing the fence you should take into account practical considerations. The material should match the architecture of the house and surrounding buildings, but it is up to us how much time we are going to spend on its maintenance. Especially wooden fences and hedges require regularity in this regard. A good alternative can be brick fences and those built of brick.

Tight, solid walls guarantee more privacy, they also provide better insulation and protection against noise from the street. However, lovers of flora should remember that along such a wall creates shade, which may not serve the development of plants. It is worth thinking about combining several types of fencing – at the front, the fence can be fuller and more representative, while at the back of the building you can afford spans or mesh stretched on posts.
